the sky for an anniversary

Vega and Altair in the real sky

In the East Asian legend behind Qixi in China, Tanabata in Japan and Chilseok in Korea, the weaver is Vega in Lyra and the herdsman is Altair in Aquila, separated by the Milky Way. Add Deneb in Cygnus and you have the Summer Triangle, the three brightest stars high overhead on summer evenings in the Northern Hemisphere. More in 12 bright stars.

Gift tips

My Constellation is an app made for fun and reflection. The constellations, elements, guardian stars and match scores it shows are not real astronomical observations or astrology, and they carry no predictive power. Please don’t base relationships or important decisions on them.

FAQ

Do Vega and Altair actually move closer on the legend’s night?

No. They are far apart in space and their positions in the sky don’t change. Enjoy the legend as a legend.

What if I don’t know their birthday?

The app needs both a name and a date. A date that matters to both of you, such as the day you met, works too.
