Wishing on a shooting star?
Start with the date

Wait for shooting stars on a random night and you may see only a few. Pick a meteor shower peak with no Moon and the same hour gives you many more.

How to watch

Why moonlight matters

Faint meteors vanish in moonlight, so the same shower can feel completely different from year to year. In 2026 the Geminids peak under a thin crescent, which makes it a good year. For basics, see stargazing in the city.

My Constellation is an app made for fun and reflection. The constellations, elements, guardian stars and match scores it shows are not real astronomical observations or astrology, and they carry no predictive power. Please don’t base relationships or important decisions on them.

On real shower nights, look up

The shooting stars in the app are just for fun. On the dates above, switch off the screen and watch the real sky.

FAQ

Will I really see 100 meteors an hour?

Figures like that assume an ideal, very dark sky. From a city or under moonlight you will see far fewer.

Can I photograph meteors?

Yes, with the camera on a tripod taking many long exposures, but watching with your eyes first is more rewarding.
