The formula
Lifetime time = minutes each time × times per day × days left
For something done three times a week, use days left ÷ 7 × 3. Convert the minutes to hours, days and years to make it feel real.
Examples (assuming 17,000 days left)
| Daily habit | Per day | Of your remaining life |
|---|---|---|
| Commute | 60 min round trip | About 1.9 years |
| Phone | 3 hours | About 5.8 years |
| Exercise | 3× a week · 40 min | About 0.55 years (about 4,860 hours) |
| Sleep | 8 hours | About 15.5 years |
If a habit has an end point, such as commuting until retirement, use the days until then instead of all days left.
What to cut, what to keep
A big number isn’t automatically something to cut. Sleep is necessary; exercise is small enough that you might want more. Sort the table into "that’s fine" and "I’d like less of that".
Calculating it in the app

Add everyday things
On the Bucket list tab in Life Calendar, choose Everyday things and enter what it is, how many times per day, week or year, and how many minutes each time.
Your share of what’s left
Each item shows something like "1.9 years of what’s left", and "Already spoken for" below adds them up as a share of your remaining time, based on the days left until your life expectancy.
FAQ
I won’t commute after retirement.
The app uses all days left until your life expectancy. For a retirement cut-off, plug the days until then into the formula above.
Does it judge my habits?
No. It only multiplies the numbers you enter.
