Adherence = taken ÷ scheduled
A medication taken three times a day for 7 days has 21 scheduled doses. Check off 14 and adherence is 14 ÷ 21 = 67%.
| Item | Counted? |
|---|---|
| Set-times and interval medications | Scheduled and taken both count |
| Medications on chosen weekdays | Only those days are scheduled |
| As-needed medications | No schedule, so excluded from adherence |
| Before start date / after end date | Not scheduled |
Each medication is counted, then added up, so a three-times-a-day medication weighs more than a once-a-day one.
Streak
The number of consecutive days on which every scheduled dose was checked off. Miss one and it resets. Today is still in progress, so an unfinished today doesn’t break it. A day with nothing scheduled stops the count.
Reading the numbers
- Low adherence, long streak → you have improved recently.
- High adherence, short streak → you slip occasionally. Check adherence by medication to see if one time slot is the cause.
- One medication is low → its time usually doesn’t fit your routine.
Forget to check off and a dose counts as missed even if you took it. The numbers reflect what was logged.
