Same name, same birthday:
the same result for life?

Some apps give a new answer every time you ask; others never budge. Knowing which kind you’re using helps you take the result less seriously and enjoy it more.

Three ways results are decided

TypeSame input againExample
RandomMay change every timeDraw-a-card fortunes
Date-basedChanges every dayDaily horoscopes
Fixed (deterministic)Always identicalA constellation from name and birthday

My Constellation is the third type. It folds your name and date of birth into a single number, and that number decides the star layout and the meaning. The same input gives the same constellation today and ten years from now. Tonight’s Starlight is the exception: it also uses the date, so it changes daily.

When the input changes slightly

These rules follow how the app computes its result.

Difference in inputResult
Spaces before or after the nameIgnored (same result)
Upper or lower case (Minji / minji)Same result
A space inside the name (Mary Ann / MaryAnn)Different constellation
Full name, nickname or name in another scriptA different constellation each
Birth date one day offDifferent constellation
Same name and same birthday as someone elseSame constellation

Which date to enter

The app takes one date from a calendar picker. If you were born near midnight in another country’s time zone, or celebrate a birthday on a traditional lunar calendar, pick one date and always use it. Different dates are different inputs and give different constellations. When comparing with friends, agree on the same rule.

Reading the rarity grade

Each constellation gets Common Sky, Rare Sky, Precious Sky or Legendary Sky plus a “Top X%.” According to the store listing, the grades were measured against 300,000 samples, and they come from shape features such as the number of stars, a closed loop, spread and brightness. They say nothing about personality or luck.

My Constellation is an app made for fun and reflection. The constellations, elements, guardian stars and match scores it shows are not real astronomical observations or astrology, and they carry no predictive power. Please don’t base relationships or important decisions on them.

Checking it in the app

The sample name and journal text in these screenshots were typed in Korean; the app itself runs fully in English.

Enter the same input again

On the first tab, clear the name and enter the same name and birthday again: the same constellation comes back. Lines you redrew and wish stars are saved with that constellation and return too.

Back up before changing phones

The constellation can always be recreated from the same input, but your Collection, star journal and redrawn lines live on the device. Use Backup / Restore in settings to move them in a single file.

FAQ

Can I reroll a result I don’t like?

Not with the same input. You can, however, redraw the lines yourself with Draw Your Lines; the meaning stays the same.

Does switching the app language change the result?

No. The language setting only changes the text shown. Typing your name in a different script, though, is a different input.
