Licensed vs unlicensed
Where online gambling is legal, operators are licensed by a regulator that sets rules for fair games, player funds and complaints, and publishes a register of licensed operators (the UK Gambling Commission’s public register is one example). Sites that serve players without such a license leave you with none of those protections. In some countries, online casinos are not legal for residents at all.
Money and data risks
- Blocked withdrawals: unlicensed sites often stall payouts with “verification”, extra deposit demands or sudden rule changes, and there is no regulator to complain to.
- No guarantee of fair games: nobody audits the random number generator. Even the 2.7% house edge assumes an honest wheel.
- Personal data and bank details: contact details and account numbers handed over at sign-up can end up in spam lists or fraud.
Legal exposure: an example
Laws differ widely. In South Korea, for example, a government briefing (April 2024) explains that online gambling by users can be prosecuted as a crime, with fines of up to 10 million won, and that using an unlicensed sports betting site can carry up to 5 years in prison or a fine of up to 50 million won. Check what applies where you live.
Spotting “sure-win” ads
- Promises of guaranteed returns, daily percentages or “AI-powered” wins in a game of chance.
- A Martingale table with the line “you only need one win”.
- Referral codes, first-deposit bonuses or invitations to a group chat.
The moment someone promises profit, the math no longer adds up. See why the Martingale goes bust.

What the app is for

See the ending with numbers, not money
Martingale Bust has no payments, deposits or withdrawals; every amount is virtual. Save several runs with the same setup and the Records tab keeps a bankruptcy rate that shows where a “sure-win” system ends up.
FAQ
The site says it is licensed somewhere. Is that enough?
Check the license on the regulator’s own website, not the casino’s, and check whether that operator is allowed to serve players in your country.
I deposited money and can’t withdraw it.
Do not send more money to “unlock” a withdrawal. Report fraud to the police, and reach out to a gambling helpline if you are struggling.
