Visa application travel history,
filled in without the panic

Visa forms often stall at "list the countries you have visited in the last few years". Here is a fast way to build the list now, and a way to keep it ready for next time.

Which forms ask

Your answers need to be accurate. This guide is about gathering the list quickly; if you are unsure whether a particular visit must be listed, check the form’s official guidance or ask a professional.

Pin down the dates first

If your government offers a record of your own border crossings, start there. It gives you exact departure and return dates to build around. For example, Korean nationals can request an entry/exit certificate through Gov24. Such records usually show dates rather than every country you passed through, so fill in the countries next.

Building the country list

  1. Write down each trip period, one per line.
  2. For each period, search your email for flight and hotel bookings to fill in the countries.
  3. Mark connecting flights separately if you had layovers.
  4. Check your phone photos’ dates and places for anything you missed.

Make next time a five-minute job

Do not throw the list away after this application. Add each new trip as you come home, just the country and dates. Next time you only need to sort and copy.

Pulling the list from the app

Log dates and purpose for each country

Start and end dates plus purpose (travel, business, transit and so on) cover what forms most often ask. Use the transit switch for airport-only stops.

2

Sort by newest and copy down

Sort the History tab by Newest and your most recent countries come first with their dates. Copy from the top until you reach the period the form asks about.

3

Use CSV to cut an exact period

Export to CSV and filter by date in a spreadsheet to cut exactly the last five years, or whatever period the form asks for.

FAQ

Can I submit the app’s records as proof?

No. The app is a personal log. Use official documents when a form requires proof.

Do I need to list countries where I only changed planes?

It depends on the form, so follow its instructions. Marking layovers as transit in the app lets you see them separately in your list.
