Cabin bag first
- Diapers, wipes and a changing pad for the flight plus delays
- Formula, water and bottles (many airports exempt baby liquids from the 100 ml limit, but check with your airline and airport)
- A change of clothes for the baby and a spare top for you
- Pacifier, a small toy, a blanket
- Baby medicine (prescriptions with the paperwork)
Counting quantities
| Item | Rule (example) | 5 nights |
|---|---|---|
| Diapers | 6 a day × nights | 30 |
| Formula | A day’s worth × nights | 5 days’ worth |
| Baby food | 2 a day × nights | 10 |
| Baby clothes | Nights + 2 | 7 |
| Baby wipes | A pack per 3 nights | 2 packs |
Diapers per day depend on your baby’s age. Use your usual daily count, and keep the first day’s supply in the cabin.
What to buy there
Diapers and wipes are sold almost everywhere, so some parents pack two days’ worth and buy the rest on arrival. Formula and baby food are the opposite: your baby’s usual brand may be hard to find, so bring it all.
