The trouble with scores
- A single number mostly invites comparison and disappointment.
- Name-and-birthday scores are just outputs of a fixed rule and have nothing to do with your relationship (how it works).
A story instead of a score
Instead of "what’s our score?", ask "how did we meet in another universe?". With no right answer, you both add to the story and naturally learn what kind of life the other daydreams about.
Conversation questions
- Where did we first meet in another universe?
- What do we each do for a living there?
- In the universe where we only passed each other, how do we live?
- Which of my six universes are you most curious about?
- What do we have here that another universe would envy?
Crossing universes in the app
Cross with someone else
In Parallel Lives, enter their name and birthday under "Cross with someone else". The app overlays both multiverses and shows the universe where you meet and the universe where you pass by. The crossing index is a just-for-fun number based on how similar place, companion, way of life and contentment are.

Compare and keep
"Compare two universes" sets two of your universes side by side by job, place and contentment. Save the ones you like with "Keep this universe" and star them as favorites in Saved for the next conversation.
The sample name in the screenshots is a placeholder; you can enter any name or nickname.
FAQ
Is it OK to enter their birthday?
Ask first and do it together. The app calculates on the device, but using someone else’s details without asking is not good manners.
Our crossing index came out low.
It is a meaningless number. "The universe where you pass by" often makes the best story.
