The same board for everyone
The Daily Puzzle is generated from the date alone, so on the same date everyone’s phone shows the same board and you can compare times with family and friends. It follows the date on each phone, so for friends in other time zones the new board arrives at a different moment.
The weekday pattern
This is the pattern in the launch version (1.0). It may change in updates.

On even-numbered dates the board returns to its starting dot (0 odd dots); on odd-numbered dates the start and finish differ (2 odd dots). On odd dates, find the starting dot first.
Keeping the streak
- Fix a time: attach it to one moment of the day, like the commute or after lunch. It works fully offline, so trains and planes are fine.
- Plan for Saturday: weekend boards are bigger, so give them a slot with some slack.
- Use hints: if the goal is the streak, take a hint when stuck. Hints refill to 3 each day.
- Perfect is a bonus: solves with no undos or hints are counted separately. Chasing perfect every day turns a habit into a chore.
In the app
Daily Puzzle on the home screen
Tap the Daily Puzzle card at the top of OneTrail’s home screen (“One new puzzle a day, the same one worldwide”). Once solved, it changes to “Solved today. See you tomorrow!”
Today’s board
The top bar shows the date, the line count, your progress (0 / 31) and the timer. Undo, Restart and Hint are at the bottom.
Streak calendar and backup
The bar-chart icon at the top opens your records: current and best streak, the daily puzzle calendar and achievements. Records live only on the device, so use Copy backup in settings to copy everything as a single string to the clipboard and keep it in a notes app. On a new phone, copy that string and tap Restore backup.

I missed yesterday’s puzzle. Can I still play it?
The Daily Puzzle is generated from the day’s date. Warm up in Journey or Endless instead.
Does changing the phone’s date give a different daily puzzle?
It follows the device date, so yes, but it makes your streak meaningless. We do not recommend it.
